Accuracy of blood pressure is crucial in healthcare. It has been highlighted by Harvard Health that up to 15% of blood pressure monitors are notably inaccurate. Accutension Stetho introduces itself as the pioneer calibrator for home blood pressure monitors. The precision of home monitors relies heavily on user technique and individual physical conditions. With Accutension Stetho, the calibration of the algorithm enhances the reliability of blood pressure measurements.
The device functions by capturing, visualizing, and replaying the Korotkoff sounds originating from blood flow during a blood pressure reading. This technique mirrors the process followed by medical professionals using manual blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes.
During an automated blood pressure measurement, the monitor displays real-time cuff pressure. Accutension Stetho App records this data and synchronizes it with the stethoscope sounds. The appearance and disappearance of Korotkoff sounds correspond respectively to Systolic and Diastolic blood pressure readings.
Every reading generates two sets of blood pressure values: one from the automated monitor and the other from Accutension Stetho App. A significant difference between these readings (more than 10mmHg) may warrant consultation with a healthcare provider as it could impact hypertension diagnosis and treatment accuracy.
Accutension Stetho enables real-time monitoring and playback of Korotkoff sounds, ensuring accurate readings. Users can even share videos containing these sounds with healthcare professionals or acquaintances for further validation of their results.
